The defending Super Bowl champions visit this year's championship host city in a Week 3 preseason match-up at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Packers are 1-1 on the preseason after their 28-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Saturday night. Head coach Mike McCarthy plans to play his starters in the first half as the team wants to get a look at some of the younger players on the roster in the second half. Pro Bowl wide receiver Greg Jennings dinged his knee in Wednesday's practice and may be kept out of this preseason tilt.
For as successful as the Colts have been when the games count, they are annually one of the worst teams in the preseason. The Colts have been on the losing end in 25 of their last 29 preseason games, including an active losing streak of eight games. In a normal offseason, this wouldn't be an issue as once four-time MVP Peyton Manning was under center and the games count in the standing.
But as the regular season approaches, the Colts remain without their franchise quarterback, who in May, underwent a second neck operation in 15 months. As he remains sidelined, Colts quarterbacks have completed just 42.3 percent of their pass attempts for 309 yards with one touchdown, four interceptions, and a passer rating of 36.5. The concern about the No. 2 quarterback position is so great in Indianapolis, owner Jim Irsay has coaxed 38-year-old Kerry Collins out of retirement.
