Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis announced during his Monday afternoon press conference that Jordan Shipley suffered a torn ACL and will be placed on the injured reserve list, ending his season.
Shipley was was injured when Broncos cornerback Cassius Vaughn tackled him low on a pass across the middle from Andy Dalton on Sunday.
Shipley had four receptions for 14 yards receiving before going down with the injury.
Andre Caldwell, who had been splitting snaps with Shipley, is now expected to become the team's full time slot receiver.
Bengals blog Cincy Jungle wonders what this means for the roster.
The move also opens a spot on the 53-man roster with some idle speculation that the Bengals could sign Andrew Hawkins off the team's practice squad; there's also a shot that the team could invite Quan Cosby back. Also consider that Ryan Whalen will likely find his way onto the team's active gameday roster as a fourth receiver.
