Michael Vick Injury: Hand Not Broken, Injury Called 'Hand Contusion'

New, comment

Michael Vick was removed from the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 3 game against the New York Giants due to a hand injury, which the team said was a suspected broken non-throwing hand. Now, new reports have emerged stating that the hand is not broken and that Vick has a 'hand contusion'. NFL.com reporter Adam Kaplan passed on the news via twitter.

Reid: Contusion for Vick, no break. Scans showed no break.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols passed on some further info about Vick's potential status for the Eagles' Week 4 matchup.

Reid says whether Michael Vick plays on Sunday depends on how the swelling in Vick's hand goes over the next few days

If Vick's injury to a non-throwing hand is not a break, it's hard to imagine that he'll be kept off the field. Mike Kafka did well for the Eagles when he entered the game in Week 2, but struggled against the Giants in Week 3. If Vick's throwing and running is not inhibited and he's not risking any kind of long-term problem, he'll probably want to be on the field come Sunday.
