Tony Romo Status: Cowboys QB Expected To Play Vs. Redskins

Earlier this week a report surfaced that Tony Romo planned to play in the Dallas Cowboys Monday Night Football game against the Washington Redskins despite a couple of injuries. Romo suffered last week a punctured lung and a rib injury in the Cowboys overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Romo's punctured lung has reportedly healed and dealing with the rib injury he has is generally a matter of pain tolerance. For that, ESPN's Ed Werder reports, Romo will take a painkiller injection for Monday's game and give it a go.

He's expected to start the game against the Redskins, Werder reports.

The Cowboys are in a surprisingly big game against the Redskins, who lead the division with a 2-0 record. I don't think many people expected the Redskins to start off the season this way so you know they'll have the motivation to come in and take it to Dallas (and, for DeAngelo Hall, take it to Romo's ribs).

Check out SB Nation's Blogging The Boys, where they're talking about how the Cowboys will protect Romo.
