49ers' Joe Staley had Giants game circled

The 49ers face the Giants on Sunday, and left tackle Joe Staley is ready for revenge.

The Giants beat the San Francisco 49ers to reach the Super Bowl last season, and Niners' players have been waiting for the chance to get revenge since this year's schedule came out. Left tackle Joe Staley wasn't shy in expressing the importance that he and his teammates place on the Week 6 rematch between the two NFC Championship participants.

Staley spoke with 95.7 The Game in San Francisco about the extra motivation he will have for Sunday's contest, but knows even if the 49ers pull of the win, the Giants will still claim the better victory:

"It’s going to be a big game. I circled it on my calendar when the schedules came out. And we’re excited for this opportunity to play at home in front of our fans against a great opponent. It’s gonna be a game like last year. We split those two. Obviously the last one hurts, and we’re trying to get a little revenge. But it’s a week, and beating them next week is not going to make up for last year."

The 49ers have been on a roll ahead of this week's clash with the Giants. San Francisco has outscored its last two opponents 79-3, and tallied 621 yards of total offense against the Bills on Sunday. The 49ers hold a 4-1 record, with the only loss coming on the road in Minnesota.

The Giants are at 3-2, and have relied on a potent offense to overcome a slew of mistakes and defensive lapses. The two teams will face off at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
