Both the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles will be without key players on Monday as running back Darren Sproles and linebacker David Hawthorne are inactive for New Orleans, while the Eagles will be without starting safety Nate Allen.
Allen is inactive due to a hamstring injury. He went through warmups during pregame, but will miss his first game of the season. David Sims will start at free safety in place of Allen. The Eagles will also be without backup defensive end Darryl Tapp, who did not travel with the team as he stayed with his wife who is expected to give birth soon.
Sproles was expected to miss Monday's game after undergoing surgery to repair a broken hand. He had surgery on Monday and could possibly return as soon as next week. Hawthorne has not played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury, but is inactive Monday despite participating fully in practice all week. Hawthorne started the first three games of the year for New Orleans and was listed as probable on the injury report.
