Larry Lumpkin Joins Colts After Supplemental Draft

Carson-Newman linebacker Larry Lumpkin has signed with the Indianapolis Colts after going undrafted during the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft. The 6'0, 241-pounder drew interest from several teams despite going overlooked in the draft.

Lumpkin put on an impressive show in front of NFL teams during a workout at his high school in Irvington, Ala. He ran a 4.69 and a 4.72 in the 40-yard dash, benched 225 pounds 27 times, and recorded a 9'10 broad jump.

Along with some solid measurables, Lumpkin was also productive in college. Last season he was named first-team All-South Atlantic Conference after racking up 96 tackles, 10 for loss.

Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon was the only player drafted among eight eligible players during the supplemental draft. Gordon was taken in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. The rest, like Lumpkin, will hope to sign on with a team through free agency and try to prove themselves during training camp.
