NFL Sends Out Unfortunate Tweet, Then Deletes It Following Monday Night Football

New, comments

The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers saw their tense Week 3 game come to an unfortunate end on Monday as a controversial call by the replacement referees awarded the game to the Seahawks.

Immediately after the game, the official NFL Twitter feed sent out a tweet, reading simply, "Touchdown or Interception? #GBvsSEA"

Many fans rightfully found this tweet to be in exceptionally poor taste at best and a willful admission of their screw-up at worst. The tweet did not stay up very long, as it was quickly deleted. The deleting of the tweet did nothing more than call more attention to it, however.

The aftermath of this game will have long-lasting impact and will only add more fuel to the fire started by running the season with replacement referees in the first place. While this may not be the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to the stalemate between the NFL and the referees, the refs gain more and more leverage all the time with calls like these.
