Patriots sign DT Terrell McClain

Defensive tackle Terrell McClain reached an agreement with the New England Patriots, the team announced. No terms of the contract were released.

On Wednesday, the New England Patriots announced that they have come to terms with defensive tackle Terrell McClain. To make room for McClain, defensive lineman Marcus Forston was released, according to the team's official website.

The 24-year-old McClain has had some experience as a starter in the NFL. In 2011, he made 12 starts for the Carolina Panthers, but was only able to amass 19 tackles (13 solo), one sack and a fumble recovery.

The Panthers drafted McClain in the third round two years ago out of South Florida hoping he would become a mainstay, but that never materialized.

The 6'2, 300-pound lineman will provide some depth for New England behind Vince Wilfork and Kyle Love.

As for Forston, he was cut after spending just a few months with the organization. The 22-year-old was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Miami (Fla.) and was inactive in the first two regular season games before making his debut against the Baltimore Ravens last weekend.
