The Houston Texans were eliminated from the 2012 playoffs on Sunday evening after suffering another defeat to the New England Patriots. To make matters worse, wide receiver DeVier Posey was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter after suffering a torn Achilles tendon, according to sources.
Posey provided one of the few highlights for the Texans when he hauled in a 25-yard touchdown with 11:35 to play in the final frame. He helped spark a little momentum to swing back Houston's way, and finished the night with three receptions for 47 yards and his lone score.
The rookie began to step up down the stretch in 2012, taking playing time away from Kevin Walter. Posey will need surgery and may not be at full health when next season rolls around, but he should have a shot at winning the No. 2 spot on the depth chart if he can keep playing at the high level we've seen in recent games.
Posey ended his first pro campaign with six receptions for 87 yards after he started seeing more action late in the regular season.
