Tony Sparano's status with Jets reportedly remains in limbo

Despite earlier reports, Tony Sparano might stick with the Jets.

While it appeared all but certain that Tony Sparano had coached his last game on the New York Jets' staff, a recent report suggests that his future has not been decided, according to ESPN.com.

As of today, Sparano is still the Jets' offensive coordinator, and he could be back next season. This contradicts an earlier report that said the team already decided to fire him.

Under Sparano, the Jets offense was unimpressive, ranking 30th in the NFL. In seven games this season, New York scored 10 points or less. Sticking with Mark Sanchez at quarterback was a hot button issue all season.

No timetable has been set as to when a decision on Sparano will be made.

While Rex Ryan appears to be back and Sparano is still in limbo, the team's general manger, Mike Tannenbaum, was fired on Monday. After back-to-back playoff appearances, the Jets missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
