Make no mistake, the Denver Broncos' visit to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13 is one of the weekend's most anticipated matchups. The game doesn't have the same luster as it did three weeks ago, however. The then 9-0 Chiefs are now 9-2 and missing Justin Houston due to injury. The Broncos are coming off an agonizing comeback loss to the New England Patriots in overtime.
There is still good reason to regard these two teams among the best in the NFL, however. Houston may be out, but the Chiefs' defense stout defense is otherwise intact. Peyton Manning is still Peyton Manning, and with a game time temperature around 50 degrees, he won't have to worry about his cold weather bugaboo, real or imagined.
Sunday's game is the de facto AFC West championship, with both teams tied atop the standings at 9-2 with relatively easy schedules through Week 16. Expect A-plus efforts from two rivals playing for a first-round playoff bye.
