The Colts practiced for the first time this week, but were without a number of key players due to injuries.

Indianapolis will have the advantage of playing at home on Saturday against Kansas City, but if practice on Tuesday is any indication, the Colts may be less than 100 percent against the Chiefs.

Five players did not practice on Tuesday, including four key contributors on defense. Vontae Davis headlined the players sitting out, as he missed practice due to a groin injury. Davis, Indianapolis' No. 1 corner, is dealing with a lingering groin injury. While he started all 16 games, he played through the injury late in the season and re-injured it in Week 17. A MRI was negative, but his status will remain in question leading up to the game on Saturday.

Davis wasn't the only member of the secondary sitting out. Starting corner Darius Butler did not practice due to a quad injury while former starting corner Greg Toler sat out with a groin injury. Toler began the season as the starter opposite of Davis before suffering a significant groin injury. He returned in Week 16 after missing seven games and played limited snaps during the final two games of the regular season. With Davis, Butler and Toler sitting out, the Colts had three healthy corners on Tuesday.

Linebacker Bjoern Werner and wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey also missed practice. Robert Mathis was a limited participant, but that was just to get the veteran some rest. On the positive side, defensive end Cory Redding and safety Sergio Brown were full participants.

While missing practice on Tuesday isn't major cause for concern, it will be important to monitor the status of the injured players moving forward. Kansas City isn't known for a dominant passing attack, but that could change if Indianapolis is without its top three corners.
