Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten wins the 2013 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.

The NFL Awards are underway on the eve of Super Bowl XLVII. Of the more popular awards given out each year are offensive and defensive rookie of the year, as well as NFL MVP.

With so many great individual performances in 2012, it should be a competitive and perhaps surprising list of honorees.

One of the major awards given annually is the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. The significance of this award is that it is given to the player for his contributions on and off the field. More than performing on the gridiron, the winner of this award gives back to his community.

This year's winner is Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.

Witten has been one of the model players in this league during his tenure. Even through the hardships in Dallas, he has been humble, productive and classy all the way. Witten was voted over Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas.
