Athleticism and offensive linemen don't always go hand-and-hand, but a number of offensive lineman showed off some impressive athleticism at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine.
Terron Armstead and Lane Johnson posted 40-yard dash times in the low 4.7s, faster than some running backs and wide receivers. Armstead proved to be the fastest offensive lineman with a 4.71 40. Johnson was just behind at 4.72. Both were nearly a second faster than Mark Jackson who ran the slowest time among offensive lineman at 5.65.
A number of offensive linemen put up strong showings in the bench press, as 11 players put up at least 31 reps led by Eric Herman's 36 reps. Johnson finished with 28 bench press reps, but led offensive lineman with a 9'10" broad jump. His 34" vertical jump was second to Armstead who jumped 34.5".
Luke Joeckel didn't top any category, but was solid all around. He posted a 5.3 second 40-yard dash with 27 bench press reps, a 28.5" vertical jump and an 8'10" broad jump. Here is a closer look at the complete offensive line results from the combine.
