Ravens trade Anquan Boldin to 49ers, according to report

The Ravens traded Anquan Boldin to the 49ers on Monday, just a few weeks after Boldin helped Baltimore beat San Francisco in the Super Bowl.

After reportedly being close to releasing him last week, the Baltimore Ravens traded wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.

According to the report, the Ravens will receive a sixth round pick for Boldin. Desperate to create salary cap space, the Ravens attempted to re-work Boldin's contract. With the 32-year-old receiver opposed to taking a pay cut, Baltimore began shopping him on the trade market.

Flush with draft picks and looking to bolster their wide receiver corps, the 49ers made for an ideal trade partner. Boldin will give the 49ers another physical receiver and could fill the 49ers void for a No. 2 receiver behind Michael Crabtree. The 49ers will take on Boldin's contract, which has one year at $6 million remaining.

Boldin played a crucial role for the Ravens in Baltimore's 34-31 Super Bowl victory against San Francisco. He caught six passes for 104 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers. Even with the deal, the 49ers still have 14 draft picks in the 2013 NFL Draft.
