Jarvis Jones chose not to participate in drills at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in his efforts to focus on his pro day workout. It's time for the top-rated linebacker to step up and deliver. Georgia will hold its pro day on March 21, with scouts waiting patiently for Jones to be on display.
The Dawgs are sure to be represented well at the 2013 NFL Draft, with the potential of reaching double-digit draft picks this April. Jones leads their class in the rankings, as he has a chance of being drafted in the top 10.
Let's take a look at the more notable names set to show off their skills at UGA's pro day.
Jarvis Jones, OLB
Jones went through medical tests at the Combine, which is the key area of concern for every potential suitor. He was diagnosed with spinal stenosis during his tenure at USC. Remember Marcus McNeill? He suffered from the same ailment and is now retired after playing just six years at the pro level.
Since he didn't work out in Indianapolis, scouts will be focused on everything Jones does at his pro day. We've seen him dominate on tape from the 2012 season. Now he'll get to show his potential live.
Alec Ogletree, OLB
Ogletree attempted to convince NFL scouts he isn't a problem off the field during his Combine interviews. He met with 25 teams to discuss his recent DUI at Lucas Oil Stadium. Ogletree was also suspended for a failed drug test at UGA.
He ran a 4.7 40 at the Combine and posted impressive numbers in the vertical, broad jump and three-cone drill. Another solid outing during his pro day will hopefully solidify his Round 1 projection.
John Jenkins, DT
We didn't see much of Jenkins at the Combine, as he only participated in the bench press. He was top performer among his group with 30 reps. Jenkins is all over the map in mock drafts right now. If he shows up well in Athens, he could boost his stock towards the top of Round 2.
Bacarri Rambo, FS
Rambo is in the same boat as Jenkins. He posted 17 reps in the bench press at the Combine, and that was all we saw of him. He looks like a third-round selection from projections. A solid 40 time will boost his stock.
Shawn Williams, SS
The Combine helped Williams out in a big way. He ran a 4.46 40 and also put up 25 reps on the bench press, both top stats among his group. He's moving up boards, and can push himself even farther up the list with his pro day.
Tavarres King, WR
Did UGA have enough speed this past season? King ran a 4.47 40 to go with his 36.5 inch vertical. Just 11 bench reps prove his strength needs to be worked out, but his pro day will be more focused on his quickness and route running.
