Dolphins new logo: Miami's new look confirmed

New, comments

The new logo for the Miami Dolphins has been confirmed, and the team will officially unveil it on April 25.

The rumored new Miami Dolphins logo that has been floating around has been confirmed as legitimate. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that the leak from last week is, in fact, the new logo. The team will officially reveal the logo on April 25, the beginning of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Of course, the Dolphins are not officially commenting on the logo, and will not until they actually reveal it themselves, but all reports indicate that we've now seen the real thing. The new logo will come with a slight uniform change, which has been described as something of a "throwback."

They talked about that over at The Phinsider on Tuesday:

It's funny that Armando uses the term "throwback" when discussing the team's "new" color scheme. I've been complaining about the absurd "modernization" of the Dolphins' logo and uniforms ever since they hatched back in 1997. I've certainly learned to appreciate our current logo and unis over the past 15 years, but I've always said that the Dolphins shouldn't hesitate to return to more of a classic look if given the chance. Lo and behold, here we are, and it looks like the Dolphins are poised to do something along the lines of classic and traditional.

It sounds like the Dolphins are trying to streamline their uniforms to some extent. The team has undergone multiple small changes to the shading of their colors over the years, and they might be trying to get it back to one or two shades for the sake of continuity.

Either way, there are some big changes for the Dolphins ahead.
