Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Ausar Walcott has been charged with attempted murder, according to NorthJersey.com.
Walcott is being charged in connection to a fight outside of a club at 3 a.m. June 23, when he allegedly punched a young man in the head.
Derrick Jones, 24, remains at Harlem Medical Center in Manhattan in critical condition.
Walcott, 23, has been brought up on three separate charges including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering an injured victim.
The former Virginia Cavaliers star turned himself into police on Tuesday and had his bail set at $500,000. While on campus, Walcott was suspended two years ago from the team for getting arrested after an incident at James Madison University along with two teammates. However, the charges in that case against Walcott were dropped.
The Browns have acknowledged the situation but released a statement saying they have no comment on the matter.
