The long, bleak offseason is nearing an end for fans in Denver and San Francisco. The Broncos and 49ers will play their first preseason game Thursday night at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
The 49ers are coming off a great season that ultimately ended with disappointment in New Orleans. San Francisco rolled up an 11-4-1 record during the regular season and went on to win the NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons. However, that's when the good times ended, as head coach Jim Harbaugh fell to his brother John and the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31, in Super Bowl XLVII. The team brings back many stars from the 2012 team, including quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and expectations are high one again.
The Broncos, too, are coming off a fine year, but one that the team feels ended too soon. After tying for the best record in the NFL with a 13-3 regular season, Denver promptly crashed out in its first postseason game, falling to the eventual champion Ravens. With Peyton Manning returning after a great 2012 season, the Broncos hope to make a deeper playoff run this time around.
