Stopping New Orleans' potent offense is a challenge for any team, but the Dolphins will have to attempt to slow down Drew Brees and company without two of their defensive starters
Cameron Wake, one of the NFL's top pass rushers, is inactive due to a knee injury. Wake was limited in practice during the week. He went through warmups prior to Monday's game before discussing his status with the training staff. According to Adam Beasley, this is the first game Wake has missed during his Dolphins career due to injury.
Dimitri Patterson is also inactive for Miami and will miss his third straight game due to a groin injury. Patterson has yet to return to practice and was ruled out earlier in the week. Nolan Carroll is expected to start to start in his place.
The Saints will also be without a couple of key defensive starters with both Brodrick Bunkley and Roman Harperinactive as expected. Neither practiced during the week and both were ruled out on Saturday. New Orleans will rely on a pair of rookies to pick up the slack. First-round pick Kenny Vaccaro will start at safety while John Jenkins is expected to start at nose tackle in place of Bunkley.
Offensively, the Saints will be without wide receiver Lance Moore and running back Mark Ingram. Ingram missed the week of practice due to a toe injury while Moore is out with a hand injury
