Bisaccia has a long-standing history as an assistant head coach at the NFL level. His NFL career began in 2008 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before working for the San Diego Chargers and, most recently, the Dallas Cowboys. Over that time, he worked as a running back coach and special teams coordinator in addition to his assistant head coaching responsibilities.
With Bisaccia as special teams coordinator, the Cowboys finished fourth in average kick return and fifth in punt return. Widely regarded as one of the top special teams coordinators in football, he could rapidly improve a Cleveland team that ranked 15th on special teams in 2013. However, it's unconventional to see a head coach come from special teams coaching.
He has worked on a total of seven coaching staffs at the college and professional level. Bisaccia also interviewed with the Washington Redskins prior to their hiring of Jay Gruden, and his meeting with Cleveland is scheduled to take place on Saturday, according to Glazer.
