The San Diego Chargers may be the hottest team in the NFL. They became winners of five straight after defeating the No. 3-seed Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday. Before that, they closed the regular season with an improbable run of four straight wins to make the playoffs. One of those wins came against the Denver Broncos, who happen to be their opposition this Sunday.
The Broncos, of course, are the No. 1 seed in the AFC for good reason. A Peyton Manning-led offense scored more points during the regular season than any team in NFL history. Manning threw for more touchdowns and more yards than any player ever.
But the Chargers are comfortable in their plucky underdog role. They won't be intimidated by the environment. After all, they were the only team to beat the Broncos in Denver this season. Philip Rivers is taking names and wearing bolo ties. He and the Chargers should give the Broncos a hell of a fight this Sunday.
