Week 6 of the 2014 NFL season is in the books, and the biggest story could be the Cowboys' stunning defeat of the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. There were plenty of other notable outcomes, however, including the Eagles' shutout of the Giants, the Packers' exciting comeback in Miami, the Patriots' resurgence, the Browns' convincing defeat of the Steelers and, of course, the 37-37 tie game between the Panthers and Bengals.
Elsewhere around the league, the Colts held off Houston in a barn burner, the Titans outlasted the Jags, the Ravens dismantled the Buccaneers, the Lions dispatched the Vikings, and the Bears destroyed the Falcons. The 49ers and Cardinals with wins this weekend continue to make the NFC West a shootout. In the AFC West, the Chargers and Broncos both survived late-game comeback attempts.
Rising and falling
The Cowboys' big win in Seattle — their fifth in a row — propels them to the No. 2 spot in the rankings, and it's clear that no team in the NFL is hotter right now. DeMarco Murray continues his record-setting tear and Tony Romo proved he's still a deadly quarterback, while the Dallas defense has been performing better than anyone thought it could. Conversely, Seattle's loss at home knocks the Seahawks down a few pegs, and they land at No. 7 after a game marked by a lack of identity on offense while surrendering 30 points at home. Really, it's Seattle's second straight shaky game in a row, after a close win over Washington on Monday Night Football last week.

The Dallas Cowboys proved they're a legitimate contender in the NFC, while the Denver Broncos continued their dominance against everyone not named the Seattle Seahawks.
Reaction to Week 6
The Chargers stick at No. 3 after surviving the Raiders on the road. The Eagles look as strong as ever after shutting out a very hot Giants team, jumping into the No. 4 spot. The Cardinals stick at No. 5 after beating Washington at home, and with Carson Palmer back in action, things are again looking up for an Arizona team that is battling through some injuries and looked to be on the ropes after losing to the Broncos last week.
San Francisco and Green Bay move up as well with nice wins. Cincinnati got passed by a few teams after tying the Panthers. Cincy now has two straight games where it's been gashed on defense, and while the offense certainly did its part to try to win, the Bengals' early-season strength was in their defensive unit. They need to get things back on track to move up in the rankings.
The Browns move up seven spots with their dominating win over the Steelers. They've battled in each and every game so far this season. They're running with authority, and Brian Hoyer is doing a good job of getting the ball to his playmakers. Josh Gordon is not due back for weeks, but right now they're doing a good job without him.
The Giants' collapse takes some luster off their recent run. They failed to put points on the board and were dominated by their division rivals throughout. They fall in the rankings.
The Steelers fall as well after their listless performance in Cleveland, and combined with their less-than-convincing win in Jacksonville the week before, end up at No. 20 on this list. In the meantime, the Texans and Bills continue to drop. Both teams started hot, but have had issues with consistency and shaky play from journeymen quarterbacks.
At the bottom of the rankings there are a group of teams huddled together, and really not much changes in that area. The Raiders move up a few spots because of their spirited comeback against the Chargers and because Derek Carr provides some hope there.
