Nick Foles went to the locker room with a shoulder injury against the Houston Texans on Sunday, ushering in Mark Sanchez to the lineup.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback hooked up with Jeremy Maclin for a long touchdown, but was otherwise ineffective against a heavy Texans pass rush.
The Eagles had been giving up the fewest sacks in the NFL entering Sunday's game, but they have already given up two to Whitney Mercilus on Sunday. Foles was slow to get up after the second sack.
The Texans have rookie Jadeveon Clowney back from injury to go along with J.J. Watt, who is playing spectacularly well at defensive end, and the Eagles' offensive line has had trouble handling the Texans' multiple pass rushing options.
Foles went 9-for-12 for 119 yards before leaving. He threw a beautiful 59-yard touchdown bomb to Jeremy Maclin, but also had an interception returned for a touchdown. The Eagles lead 14-7 approaching the midpoint of the second quarter. Sanchez is off to a strong start, and has already hooked up with Jordan Matthews for a touchdown.
