The Tennessee Titans came within a few plays of upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. The Titans get another shot at the state of Pennsylvania on Sunday when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
In just his third NFL start, quarterback Zach Mettenberger completed over 60 percent of his throws and looked like a capable passer. Other than a pick six early in the game, he made few egregious mental errors while consistently hitting receivers downfield. The Titans are a far better offense with him at the controls than former first-round pick Jake Locker or journeyman Charlie Whitehurst. Where the Tennessee offense struggled was on the ground. Second-round pick Bishop Sankey continues to receive limited carries, rushing 11 times for only 38 yards. He did however run in a touchdown in the first quarter, his second of the season.
The Eagles were flying high heading into Week 11. They had won four of their last five games with only a close loss over the conference-leading Arizona Cardinals blemishing the stretch. Starting quarterback Nick Foles was knocked out for several weeks with a broken collarbone, but Mark Sanchez demonstrated the ability to replicate his performance (perhaps even improving upon it) in a blowout win over the Carolina Panthers. However, upon arriving at Lambeau Field, everything fell apart for Philadelphia. The Packers boat raced them to the tune of 52-20, with the Eagles scoring only six points in the first half. That said, Sunday's game against the Titans could provide the perfect rebound opportunity.
The experts are all in on the Eagles this week. Every member of CBS Sports' eight-man panel sided with Philadelphia.
CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco had this to say about the game:
Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger did some good things in the Monday night loss to the Steelers. And the Eagles aren't great on defense. So expect a close game? Not the way the Titans defense played last week. Mark Sanchez will eat up that blitzing defense.
