Giants vs. Jaguars 2014 picks and predictions: New York favored in battle of basement dwellers

The Giants haven't played well, but they've at least handled teams under .500.

The New York Giants have been a bad football team this year. But they have also played a brutal schedule filled with likely playoff teams. In the Giants' rare opportunities to play bad teams, they have taken care of business, which is one of the major reasons they're a near-unanimous pick by NFL experts to beat the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on the road this Sunday.

The Giants have lost to Detroit, Arizona, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Seattle, San Francisco and Dallas (twice) -- a group with a combined 56-26 record. Every one of those teams besides the 49ers are either leading their division or are within a game and a half of the lead.

In the three games the Giants have played against teams under .500 (Houston, Washington and Atlanta), they're undefeated. The Jags are well below .500 at 1-10, tied with the Raiders for the worst record in the NFL.

Ten of 13 experts at ESPN, four of five at Fox Sports and seven of eight at CBS Sports are picking the Giants to win. Here at SB Nation, only Matt Ufford is brave enough to go with Jacksonville.
