Jimmy Graham upset with pass interference call: 'That's why I left basketball'

New, comments

The New Orleans Saints were denied victory on Sunday thanks to an offensive pass interference call on tight end Jimmy Graham on the final Hail Mary of the game. Now he's speaking out.

Graham made contact with 49ers cornerback Perrish Cox on a catch that would have won the game. It's unclear if the tight end pushed him enough to result in the flailing collapse we saw on Sunday, though officials threw the flag for him pushing off. The Saints player saw things very differently.

"It was definitely not a push-off," Graham said. "I'm running down the field telling myself, 'Whatever you do, don't push off.' It's interesting how guys grab me everywhere on the field and I put literally two fingers on somebody and they make that kind of call."

Going a step further, Graham compared the call to his time playing his second sport at the University of Miami.

"That's why I left basketball," he said.

The loss could cost the Saints sole possession of the top spot in the NFC South depending on the result of the Carolina Panthers' game against the Eagles on Monday Night Football.
