Wide receiver Donte Moncrief will join the Indianapolis Colts after being selected with the 90th pick of the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Moncrief was ranked No. 57 on SB Nations top 200 big board, and 10th among all receivers. Players ranked higher than Moncrief included Kelvin Benjamin and Davante Adams. He was slotted above players such as Allen Robinson and Brandon Coleman.
Despite racking up 156 receptions, 2,371 receiving yards and 20 touchdown receptions in three seasons at Ole Miss, Moncrief never earned a spot on an All-SEC team. Still, he was fifth in the SEC in receiving in 2013, tallying 938 yards and six touchdowns off of 59 receptions as a full-time starter for the Rebels. His best year was his sophomore year, when he had 66 receptions and 979 yards with 10 touchdowns.
While his slight drop in production when it comes to receptions and yards isn't worrying, getting four fewer touchdowns in his junior season was considered a disappointment. He finished his college career ranked third in Ole Miss history in receptions (56), receiving yards (2,3,71) and receiving touchdowns (20). He finished second in 100-yard receiving games with a total of nine.
Weight: 221 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.40 seconds
Bench press: 13 reps of 225 pounds
Vertical jump: 39.5 inches
Broad jump: 132 inches
20-yd shuttle: 4.30 seconds
3-cone drill: 7.02 seconds
There were questions about Moncrief's top-end speed, but he changed that perception by running a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash at the 2014 NFL Combine. His huge vertical and broad jumps show that Moncrief also has the explosion necessary to get up to speed quickly. For a guy who stands at 6'2, he moves plenty quick to satisfy NFL teams, and is even above the curve when it comes to players his size.
