Yes, you can get a DUI for being high. It is an acronym for Driving While Intoxicated. Le'Veon Bell was not aware of that at the time of his marijuana arrest earlier this week, and the Steelers running back borrowed a page from the Cheech & Chong playbook, according to the police affidavit.
Affidavit: @L_Bell26: "I didn’t know you could get a DUI for being high. I smoked two hours ago. I’m not high anymore. I’m perfectly fine."— Courtney Brennan (@WPXI_Courtney) August 22, 2014
Wait, he's not high after two hours?
Pittsburgh police brought a dog in to sniff out the grass, finding it in a "knotted plastic baggie" in the car's center console.
Bell was in the car with fellow Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount and Mercedes Dollson, a woman from California. He informed the cop that the three of them pitched in to buy the weed and had just picked it up.
And that's really the most questionable part of this story. Why are these three going in on a bag together? Someone can't just be like, "hey, I've got this bag. You can get the next one, cool?"
