On Thursday night, Atlanta Falcons receiver/returner Devin Hester scored on a 62-yard punt return, giving him a record-breaking 20th return touchdown in his career. Hester broke the record of 19, held by Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who was in the Georgia Dome for the game as an NFL Network analyst.
After the game, Hester joined the postgame show to speak about the moment and had emotions overcome him, following a heartfelt comment from Sanders.
"I love you as a man, a father, as a husband," Sanders said. "I remember the beginning man. I love you dude, and I'm so proud of you man, I'm so proud of you."
Hester and Sanders have been friends for years.
"I remember the first time you called me man," Hester responded. "I was in a meeting and we were playing NC State. I had my phone in my pocket because somebody said you were going to call me. I seen my phone vibrate and we were in the meeting. I didn't even look at it I just snuck out and went to the bathroom and called you right back ... From the texts you give me everyday, I read them and share them with some of my teammates. The texts you give me, I know you send them to a couple guys, but I really appreciate that."
