Chiefs TE Travis Kelce will play Week 12 vs. Bills

Kansas City's leading receiver will be in the lineup despite twisting his ankle Friday in practice.

The Kansas City Chiefs may be heading into Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills without starting running back Charcandrick West, but at least Alex Smith will have tight end Travis Kelce on the field.

Kelce will play Sunday despite suffering an ankle sprain in practice Friday. The third-year tight end leads the Chiefs with 50 catches this season, though he's failed to reach 50 receiving yards in three consecutive weeks. Kelce's best game of the season came in Week 1, when he caught six passes for 106 passes and two touchdowns.

After starting the season 1-5, the Chiefs have won four consecutive games to even up their record at 5-5. Kansas City is currently in possession of the second Wild Card spot in the AFC.

Surprisingly, the Chiefs have done all of this without star running back Jamaal Charles, who tore his ACL in Week 5. Over the last four weeks, Kansas City has averaged 32.5 points per game.

But with West out of action Sunday, the Chiefs may have to heavily lean on their passing game. Fortunately for Alex Smith, he'll have his favorite target on the field.
