Marcus Mariota leaves game vs. Patriots with knee injury

Trainers for the Titans appeared to be checking the right knee of Mariota after he was sacked.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was sidelined after a sack by the New England Patriots. After the hit, trainers appeared to be checking the right knee of the rookie and the team later announced that he was questionable to return.

Zach Mettenberger took over for Mariota in the lineup and found success right away, connecting with Dorial Green-Beckham on a 39-yard gain. Mettenberger started two games for the Titans earlier in the year due to a knee injury for Mariota, although that was an MCL sprain in his left knee.

Prior to the injury, Mariota completed 3 of 6 passes for 32 yards, but the Titans fell into a 21-3 hole early to the Patriots. He was injured on a third-down sack by Patriots outside linebacker Jamie Collins, but left the field under his own power before he was checked on by trainers on the sideline.

Mariota, the No. 2 selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, has 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the year, but the Titans are tied for the NFL's worst record at 3-10.
