Steelers K Shaun Suisham has torn ACL, likely out for the season

Suisham will have surgery on his left knee.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham tore the ACL in his left knee, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He will undergo surgery on his knee and will likely miss the entire 2015 season.

On Sunday night during the Hall of Fame Game against the Minnesota Vikings, Suisham was spotted limping into the locker room after booting the opening kickoff of the second half. He did not return to the game.

Suisham scored the first points of the 2015 preseason with a 36-yard field goal in the second half. He has been with the Steelers since 2010, and has made better than 90 percent of his field goal attempts in four his five seasons with the team, making all 30 of attempts between 40 and 50 yards in length.

Suisham missing any time, let alone the whole season, is a serious blow to the Steelers, who are now in the market for a new kicker. They currently have three kickers lined up for workouts Tuesday:

One name they likely won't call to replace Suisham: former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed, who was ejected from the stands Sunday night, according to Deadspin. (Reed, however, claims he left voluntarily due to an obnoxious fan.)

The No. 1 goal of teams during the preseason is to stay healthy. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh was unable to get away scratch-free against the Vikings.
