Manziel, 22, gave the Browns a spark in Week 1 against the New York Jets, throwing a 54-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin early in the second quarter to give Cleveland a 7-0 lead. However, he struggled to get the Browns offense going for the remainder of the game, finishing the day 13-of-24 passing for 182 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 31-10 loss.
It remains to be seen if this is a decision for the long haul in Cleveland with Josh McCown still recovering from a concussion suffered in Week 1. Prior to the hit that sent him out of the game, McCown was 5-of-8 passing for 49 yards and was expected to be back in time for Week 2, but still remains in concussion protocol, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Manziel started two games for the Browns as a rookie, but the team lost both games and he finished the year with just 175 passing yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns.
The Titans began the year with a 42-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thanks to four first-half touchdown passes thrown by Marcus Mariota. After beating Jameis Winston in Week 1, Mariota will face a former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for a second straight week when he goes against Manziel.
