Reggie Wayne won't be haunting the Indianapolis Colts after all, at least not with Tom Brady. Reports say that the veteran wideout was one of Bill Belichick's cuts as the New England Patriots get down to 53 players.
A source just told me that #Patriots WR Reggie Wayne "will not be on 53." Added, "he will not be there."

Wayne was given $450,000 in guaranteed money, but still couldn't make a New England roster that is thin at wide receiver.
He spent the first 14 years of his career with the Colts, but was trying to find a new home, despite the fact that he will turn 37 in the middle of the season.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wayne might have pulled the plug on his own career, at least in New England.
WR Reggie Wayne asked to be released, according to source.

Asking to be released from a Super Bowl contender indicates that Wayne will likely retire rather than try to hook on with another team.
