CHARGERS/RAMS IN L.A.? NFL consensus builds for a Rams-Chargers stadium project in Inglewood. The NFL finally may have its answer in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that the Chargers and Rams could throw in together for Stan Kroenke's Inglewood mega entertainment complex. Owners still have to approve the deal, but if the league's Los Angeles committee makes the recommendation, it's expected to happen.
RAIDERS STAYING HOME? What about the Raiders? If the Rams and Chargers move in together, it's expected that the NFL would sweeten the deal for the Raiders as a consolation prize, perhaps giving them a chunk of the relocation fees to help finance a new stadium in Oakland.
ACCEPTANCE: Dean Spanos: "I've said everything that I have to say." The Chargers owner seems more ready to accept the deal that would put his team in Inglewood with the Rams. That's significant because in the past, like last week even, Spanos has said that he was not interested in that solution.
SUSPENDED: Vontaze Burfict suspended by NFL for first three games of 2016 season. The hits just keep coming for the Bengals and Vontaze Burfict, whose repeated illegal hits and personal fouls have finally caught up to him.
RISK/REWARD PLAYERS: What makes Pacman Jones and Burfict so good is also what makes them a risk. The Bengals employ Burfict and Jones because they are amazing football players. But when you sign players with character issues, there is always a cost.
HUE WATCH: Hue Jackson decision coming soon. The Bengals offensive coordinator is either going to take the job in Cleveland or San Francisco. Unless ... the Giants can convince him to take the job there.
GIANTS FAVORITES: Are Ben McAdoo and Doug Marrone the frontrunners for the Giants coaching job? The New York Giants are taking their time on hiring their next head coach, but it appears that they already have a couple favorites for the position. Former Falcons coach Mike Smith could be in the mix for New York, too.
FIRED: Texans fire three assistants. Giving up a touchdown on the opening kickoff is the kind of thing that gets a special teams coach fired.
PACKERS DEFENSE: The Packers defense got just what it needed. Green Bay's defense has struggled down the stretch, but it found its way on a critical early goal line stand in its Wild Card win at Washington on Sunday.
MOCK DRAFT: 2016 NFL mock draft: A new direction for the No. 1 pick. The draft is still more than 100 days away, so we still have no idea what will happen. With that in mind, this week's mock has several notable changes.
HOVERBOARD RACE: Bow Wow challenged Emmitt Smith to a hoverboard race on CSI: Cyber for some reason. "I am in my dress shoes."
BE CAREFUL: PETE CARROLL TACKLED A WHITEBOARD.
INTERRUPTION: Crowd at "Book of Mormon" show breaks into Seahawks chant. The gamecast update hit just in time before the show started.
CHAMPS: Alabama takes down Clemson for fourth title in seven years. The game lived up to expectations.
