Patriots vs. Bills 2016, NFL picks and predictions: New England favored to get revenge win

The Bills shut out the Patriots in Week 4, but they have to face Tom Brady this time.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

There is never a dull moment with Rex Ryan, and his 2016 season with the Buffalo Bills has been no exception. Ryan found himself on the hot seat after an 0-2 start, but his team rallied and got four straight wins. The most notable win of that period was beating the New England Patriots on the road, 16-0, in Week 4. It's the first time the Patriots were shut out at Gillette Stadium.

Of course, that win comes with a few caveats -- Tom Brady was still suspended, and Rob Gronkowski was still hobbled by a hamstring injury. Now Brady is back, and needless to say, he's a huge upgrade over Jacoby Brissett. Gronk is finally at full health and back to being the most dominant tight end in football. This is most certainly not the same Patriots team that lost to the Bills in Week 4, and they'll be eager to prove it when they meet up in Buffalo this week.

The Patriots' only loss came to the Bills and they've looked like the best team in football since Brady came back in Week 5. Their most recent win came over the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Brady threw for two touchdowns and LeGarrette Blount rushed for two scores of his own in the 27-16 win. New England is 5-1 and probably won't be slowing down any time soon.

The Bills, meanwhile, saw their winning streak come to an end in a 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Worse, they could be without running back LeSean McCoy, who tried playing through a hamstring injury but ended up aggravating it. With Sammy Watkins still on the shelf, the 4-3 Bills can't afford another key loss to their offense.

Naturally, the Patriots are big favorites to avenge their Week 3 loss and take control of the AFC East. All but one of the writers at ESPN are picking them and they're a unanimous favorite at CBS Sports.

New England is also the unanimous pick here at SB Nation.
