None of the quarterbacks blew the doors off the 2016 NFL Combine in the 40-yard dash, and all finished with the majority in the 4.8-4.9 range.
Jeff Driskell of Louisiana Tech actually led the way for the quarterbacks, while most expected TCU's Trevone Boykin to do so after he racked up 27 rushing touchdowns during his collegiate career. Boykin managed a time of 4.77 seconds, tying him with Carson Wentz of North Dakota State, while Driskell led the way with a 4.56 time.
Wentz posting such a good time wasn't completely unexpected but it bodes well for the man often considered the top quarterback in the class. One of the more eye-opening times was the 4.81 finish for Cardale Jones, who measured in at 6'5, 253 pounds on Friday.
The 40-yard dash hasn't been a strong predictor of much of anything among quarterbacks with some of the best passers in the league finishing with some of the slowest times. For quarterbacks, measurements and the throwing drills are the most important parts of the NFL Combine and timing drills don't do much to sway opinions.
