NFL Combine results 2016: Top defensive line talent didn't stand out

It wasn't a bad showing for players like Joey Bosa, DeForest Buckner or Noah Spence, but it wasn't a great one either.

The defensive linemen at the top of the 2016 NFL Draft neither disappointed nor stood out at the NFL Combine on Sunday, instead posting forgettable performances.

That's not a terrible thing for players like Joey Bosa, DeForest Buckner and Noah Spence, who have already developed plenty of draft hype without the need for Combine numbers to launch them to further heights. None of the three posted times and marks that would launch them any higher, but they weren't statistics that would warrant dropping them from the first round either.

Bosa, considered by many to be the best player in the entire draft class, did especially well in the 3-cone drill after an underwhelming 4.86 in the 40-yard dash. Considering bend is a more important trait than running 40 yards for defensive linemen, it was a day that Bosa can hang his hat on, but it's still his gametape that goes at the top of his draft résumé.

If any defensive lineman took advantage of the NFL Combine, it was Oklahoma State's Emmanuel Ogbah, who finished with a 4.63 40-yard dash and 10'1" broad jump, which are impressive marks for a lineman who weighed in at 273 pounds.

Oklahoma defensive end Charles Tapper also performed well for a lineman over 270 pounds, finishing his 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds.
