The NFL announced Wednesday that the 2016 regular season schedule will be released Thursday, in a live coverage feed on the NFL Network starting at 8 p.m. ET. Dreams of holding the Lombardi Trophy can become much clearer for teams when the schedule is announced.
The schedule release is just the beginning, with several months before the 2016 regular season kicks off on Sept. 8. The season runs through Jan. 1, with Super Bowl 51 scheduled for Feb. 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
While we don't know just yet when these games will be played, we do already know several interesting matchups in the season ahead. The Carolina Panthers will get a rematch with the Broncos on the road in Denver this fall. Six teams are also headed to London as part of the international series: Colts vs. Jaguars in Week 4, Rams vs. TBD NFC East team in Week 7 and Washington vs. Cincinnati in Week 8.
The preseason lineups were revealed last week, and fans have been waiting patiently to book their football travel.
