Divisional matchups in Week 1 of the regular season always represent a good chance to jumpstart one team's season. On Sunday, the San Diego Chargers will hit the road to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in a battle of AFC West foes. The Chiefs swept the Chargers last year on their way to an 11-5 season. San Diego finished just 4-12.
The last time these two teams played in Kansas City, the Chiefs walked away with a sloppy 10-3 win after a game that was played in heavy rain and terrible field conditions. That game from December isn't indicative of what will happen in Week 1, though the Chiefs could be without a key player again.
Jamaal Charles, Kansas City's star running back, is listed as doubtful on the official injury report. Charles is one of the most effective running backs in the league, but the Chiefs managed to do fine without him last year. After Charles tore his ACL in Week 5, Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware and Knile Davis -- as well as quarterback Alex Smith -- picked up the slack on the ground.
The Chiefs have found more success and have more talent than the Chargers, and almost everyone expects they'll come out and take the win on Sunday.
Over at CBS Sports, the panel is going with the Chiefs by a 7-1 margin, while all nine of the ESPN experts picked the Chiefs. And over at FOX Sports, all five of the experts think the Chiefs will win as well.
Here at SB Nation, it's a clean sweep:
