Dolphins vs. Steelers 2017 picks and predictions: Pittsburgh is huge favorite in Wild Card round

The Steelers fell to the Dolphins in the regular season, but experts think they’ll get revenge in the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the higher seed and will host the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, but it’s the latter team who found success in their regular season head-to-head matchup. The Dolphins, on the back of a huge game from running back Jay Ajayi, dominated the Steelers the first time around.

That game saw quarterback Ryan Tannehill throw for 252 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions, but as a team the Dolphins put up a massive 222 rushing yards. Ajayi led the way with the bulk of the yards, totaling 204 yards on 25 carries, including a 62-yard run. Ajayi also had a pair of touchdowns on the ground.

Ben Roethlisberger was rattled and unable to keep up with the production put forward by Ajayi. Roethlisberger completed 19 of 34 passes for 189 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in Miami. Le’Veon Bell had just 53 yards rushing and the Steelers only managed to break 100 yards rushing because wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey broke a 60-yard run.

Ajayi has rushed for 200 yards three times this season. He hasn’t quite kept up that pace, though a couple weeks back he had another 200-yard game against the Buffalo Bills. On top of that, Tannehill is out with a knee injury, leaving backup Matt Moore to get the start. So the Steelers will go into Sunday’s game focused on preventing Ajayi from eating up those massive chunks of yardage once again.

As far as experts are concerned, few are picking the Dolphins. Over at CBS Sports, the entire eight-man panel thinks the Steelers will win it. At ESPN, no one’s picking the Dolphins either.

Here at SB Nation, we’ve got someone brave enough to take the Dolphins.
