Justin Timberlake pays tribute to Prince during Super Bowl 52 halftime show

It was only right there was such a tribute.

During Justin Timberlake’s halftime performance during Super Bowl 52, he appropriately delivered a tribute to the late, great Prince.

Of course, you knew the performance had to have some purple — Prince was the unofficial owner of said color. He was projected on a sheet, while Timberlake played the piano:

The city was also lit up in purple, but U.S. Bank Stadium looked particularly amazing in the color:

Prince was from Minneapolis, and is of the city’s most notable natives. He has 39 studio albums to his name, won eight Grammy Awards over the course of his career, and is one of the best-selling artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. He died in April 2016 at the age of 57.

Timberlake had no choice but to pay tribute to one of the best artists of all time in his hometown. Anything less would be insulting.
