The Nashville Predators sure did try to score against Roberto Luongo as Nashville outshot the Canucks 12-4 in the first period but the Predators and Canucks skated a scoreless first period.
The Predators had three powerplay chances to the Canucks two and could not produce many opportunities with the extra man. In the 4:45 of powerplay time in the first period, the Predators had exactly two shots on goal, with neither of the shots making Luongo work hard to save. Pekka Rinne had less work in the period, stopping all four shots that he saw from Vancouver.
Ten players have a shot on goal for the Predators while only three players account for all of the Canucks shots. For the most part, this game has been a sound defensive game with neither goaltender having to work real hard at making the save. This game could come down to the first team scoring will end up winning.
