Zdeno Chara Won't Be Detained By Montreal Police During NHL Playoffs

Zdeno Chara will return to the scene of his destructive hit on Max Pacioretty next week in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. There’s been chatter that his presence in the city will give Montreal police a chance to pull him aside for questions, as the incident is currently under criminal investigation.

But police sergeant Ian Lafreneire told the Canadian Press that Chara needn’t worry about being whisked off the streets:

We’re still doing the investigation, but it’s going to be long. It’s not the way we’re going to do things. We know who Mr. Chara is and we don’t have to apprehend him at customs.

As 2Pac once pointed out, a man of Chara’s stature and visibility “ain’t hard to find.” However, the police did indicate that the investigation is indeed stil ongoing, despite reports to the contrary.
