NHL Conference Finals Could Begin As Early As Tuesday

With the Boston Bruins sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night and the Tampa Bay Lightning sweep of the Washington Capitals earlier in the week, the NHL's Eastern Conference Finals are set and the teams are ready to go.

But out West, things are less than certain, with the San Jose Sharks yet to close out the Detroit Red Wings and the same scenario playing out between the Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators.

The start of the Conference Finals, then, is based solely on when the two remaining second round series end.

Vancouver can close out Nashville in Game 5 at Rogers Arena on Saturday night, while Detroit could see their season end in Game 5 at San Jose on Sunday night. If that happens, the Conference Finals between Tampa Bay and Boston could kick off on Tuesday night, with the Bruins hosting Game 1 at TD Garden.

Beyond that, we don't know when the start date will be. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the rest of the second round.
