With the 20th overall pick, the Phoenix Coyotes selected Connor Murphy, a defenseman from the U.S National Team Development Program. He had six points in 14 games with the USNTDP during team play in the USHL.
Murphy led American defensemen in the Under-18 tournament with four points in six games in the tournament, which saw the U.S win gold over Sweden and scored the game winning goal during the gold medal game. Murphy is set to play hockey at Miami University next season.
Murphy's dad was an NHL player as well as Gord Murphy played for five different teams in the NHL and is now an assistant coach with the Florida Panthers.
