WJC 2013: USA Hockey announces preliminary roster

USA Hockey officially announced the 27-man preliminary roster for the 2013 World Junior Championship scheduled to begin in Ufa, Russia on Dec. 26.

USA Hockey officially announced its preliminary roster for the 2013 World Junior Championship on Tuesday.

The announcement included 27 invitees: three goaltenders, nine defensemen and 15 forwards. The players will travel to the New York Rangers' Madison Garden Training Center for a three-day camp that will take place Dec. 16-18. The team's final roster will be announced on Dec. 23 following an additional training camp in Helsinki, Finland.

The World Junior Championship will begin Ufa, Russia, starting on Dec. 26.

The goaltenders included on the preliminary roster include John Gibson, Jon Gillies and Garret Sparks. The defense corps will consist of Shayne Gostisbehere, Matt Grzelcyk, Seth Jones, Jake McCabe, Connor Murphy, Mike Reilly, Patrick Sieloff, Brady Skjei and Jacob Trouba.

The forwards invited to the camp include Cole Bardreau, Riley Barber, Tyler Biggs, Alex Galchenyuk, John Gaudreau, Rocco Grimaldi, Ryan Hartman, Sean Kuraly, Mario Lucia, Stefan Matteau, J.T. Miller, Stefan Noesen, Blake Pietila, Vince Trocheck and Jim Vesey.
