In a game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night, Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith threw an elbow at Canucks winger Daniel Sedin's head that knocked Sedin out of the game. It appears the blow will keep Sedin out of action for some time.
Hockey reporter Renaud P. Lavoie tweeted on Thursday that Sedin has a concussion. The concussion is expected to keep the winger out of action for at least two weeks.
Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy takes an in-depth look at the hit on Sedin and breaks down whether the elbow was premeditated or out of line. Regardless, it was an ugly hit that did serious damage. Here is a video of the play in question:
Brendan Shanahan has suspended Keith for five games as a result of the incident.
